Case Entry 33
My mighty blow for the Empire was heartlessly deflected by Bast as she tried to trap my arm in her defense while countering with her free fists. I quickly changed my stance and used her own movements to deflect her. The arms meant to entrap me I repositioned to the side blocking a set of descending arms.
The motion caused the arms to become entangled. I simultaneously stepped into her guard so we were hip to hip while barely avoiding her pistoning right arms. I hooked my hip into hers and pushed with my right arm lifting from under her center of gravity. In a smooth motion I sent her sprawling to the floor.
Bast rolled with the throw well and caught me by the leg with one of her free arms. She yanked hard and pulled me off my feet. I just had enough time to roll out of the way before Bast had leapt onto the spot I had just occupied like a spider. I rolled back putting some distance between us and flipped to my feet. My throw would have knocked the wind out of a normal person but I knew that Bast didnât fall into that category.
Not to be out done Bast pushed up to her feet and came at me again. Her strikes were ferocious and hellishly fast. It was all I could do to block, dodge, or weave through them as she continued to press her attack. I threaded off a small part of my consciousness to observe and analyze. I was seeing something of a flaw in her technique. But, she wasnât giving me much time to really think.
To counter her upper body advantage I started attacking her centerline trying to knock her off balance by timing several low line kicks to her legs and groin area. I watched as the distance between us started to grow and grow and her punches got fewer as I forced her to focus on protecting her legs. As soon as the distance had opened enough for me to fight back with my hands I used several progressive indirect attacks to land a few blows to her sides and head.
Progressive indirect attacks can be tricky especially with someone with multiple arms that can protect their body. The attacks require a combination of strikes with most of the strikes used as feints to open an area of the body you want to strike with the real blow that looks like it is going one place but deviates at the last second to hit another.
Bast rode my blows well and in truth hitting her was like punching a steel wall. Her bones would have needed some type of lacing of plastic or titanium to support her arms and keep the power they contained from tearing her body apart. If I had to guess it would be plastic. It was cheap and would do the job.
Bast recovered from my blows putting distance between us. I was grateful for that as I was now starting to breathe pretty heavily and felt the sheen of sweat on my brow.
